Our Kids Count (OKC) is a grass-roots community development organization and we work with individuals & families to promote the health and development of all children and youth who are in financial need. Our programs are built on needs identified by the families we serve and include community kitchens, parenting & life skills workshops, pre/post-natal support, home visiting, the emergency food cupboard, Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring, and counselling.
The Building Block campaign is our way of building something better—right in the heart of our community. Our goal is to raise $2.7M and transform an entire block into a welcoming, family-focused hub with essential services such as emergency food cupboard, walk-in counselling, community kitchen, licensed child care and parenting support.

1 in 5 Thunder Bay children—and nearly half of Indigenous kids—live in poverty. In 2024 alone, Our Kids Count supported over 5,000 individuals through 20,000 program visits and provided 45,000 nutritious meals.
